In a scathing new documentary released on Netflix this Wednesday, former France national team manager Raymond Domenech has pulled no punches in revisiting the infamous 2010 World Cup campaign—a tournament that will forever be remembered for Les Bleus' spectacular meltdown in South Africa.

Domenech, who managed France from 2004 to 2010, has shared explosive excerpts from his personal diary written during the tournament, offering a brutally honest and often personal take on the squad's disastrous performance. The documentary centers on the team's notorious "Knysna strike," when players boycotted a training session after striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home following a heated clash with Domenech during a group-stage loss to Mexico.

While several key players—including Patrice Evra, William Gallas, and Bacary Sagna—agreed to participate in the documentary, Domenech's commentary steals the spotlight with its sharp, unfiltered criticism. With biting sarcasm, he referred to the players' boycott as their "best collective effort in the World Cup," a dig at a squad that failed to win a single match and finished bottom of their group.

But Domenech's ire doesn't stop there. He takes aim at some of France's most decorated stars, including Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Born on August 17, 1977, Henry is dismissed by Domenech—a known astrology enthusiast—as "a banal self-absorbed Leo." The former manager also targets Yoann Gourcuff, the Bordeaux prodigy who was surprisingly dropped for the Mexico loss, calling him "a mildly autistic moron."

Domenech's diary entries reveal a manager at his wit's end. He writes that he "won't be able to put up much longer with Gallas' sulking," and reserves some of his harshest words for Anelka, who reportedly walked past Domenech without acknowledging him. "A complete moron," Domenech writes of the former Chelsea striker.

For fans of football history and those who remember the chaos of 2010, this documentary offers a raw, behind-the-scenes look at one of the sport's most infamous team implosions—and a reminder of how quickly talent can turn into turmoil.
