There's been plenty of talk about what the San Francisco 49ers are going to do with star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, and until something is figured out, we'll have to continue questioning what might really go on.
Unfortunately for the 49ers, they were put in a horrible spot without him. That's something the organization is currently dealing with, though it will certainly result in a trade in the near future.
Looking at the top players that could be traded before the draft, Aiyuk is the obvious name in San Francisco.
“San Francisco 49ers: WR Brandon Aiyuk San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said at the league meetings that the team is still hoping to trade Aiyuk this offseason. While it seems clear that Aiyuk's time with the 49ers is up, the 28-year-old receiver still could have a No. 1 wide receiver ceiling and a floor as a strong No. 2 receiver. Perhaps the draft will provide the catalyst the 49ers need to move the disgruntled veteran in return for some draft capital,” Jack McKessy of USA TODAY wrote.
The 49ers have made it somewhat clear that they don't plan to trade Aiyuk before the draft, and there are many reasons why. Not only would they be put in a better situation cap-wise, but there's not really much of a reason to help the guy out after he didn't show up last year.
