The second round of the 2026 NFL Draft will begin on Friday night, with the San Francisco 49ers kicking things off with the No. 33 overall pick.

While there’s a chance the 49ers will retain the pick after executing two first-round trades on Thursday, NFL insider Jordan Shultz recently reported that the 49ers could complete a trade with either the Arizona Cardinals or Buffalo Bills involving the early second-round selection.

“Sources: The#49ers,#Cardinals and#Bills have received calls about potential trades at the top of Round 2 tonight, setting up what could be a busy trade night,” Schultz stated on X/Twitter. “It makes sense as Round 1 ended with five of the final seven picks being traded.

"The#49ers are considered ‘very open’ to moving back and continuing to acquire draft capital at No. 33. They’re targeting several players and don’t necessarily need to pick at 33 to land one of them.”

It’ll be interesting to see what GM John Lynch and the 49ers decide to do with the No. 33 pick after reportedly receiving trade interests from two potential buyers. If the franchise truly believes they can trade down while still landing their desired prospects later in the draft, it’s possible that they could find themselves conducting business with the Cardinals and Bills on Friday night.

If the 49ers change their tune, things could easily go the other way, making it pivotal to monitor the NFC franchise throughout the day.
