San Francisco 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek met with Louisville defensive lineman Rene Konga this week, according to KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson. Konga, 23, is originally from Cameroon before his family relocated to Ottawa, Canada when he was a kid.
Konga has been in college since 2020, first at Rutgers before he transferred to Louisville in 2024. He had four sacks, eight tackles for a loss and 49 combined tackles over the past two seasons. Konga is slightly undersized as a B-gap defensive lineman (between the offensive guard and the tackle) at almost 6-foot-4 and nearly 300 pounds, but he has short-area quickness with a 4.79 40-yard dash time, a 1.6 10-second split and 4.59-second short shuffle.
NFL.com's Lance Zierlein projects Konga to go in the sixth round, meaning he is almost assuredly a Day 3 pick if the 49ers are interested in drafting him.
