The San Francisco 49ers kicked off their rookie minicamp over the weekend, welcoming all eight of their 2026 NFL draft picks along with several undrafted free agents to the practice field. Among them was defensive end Romello Height, a Day 3 selection who's already eager to tap into the wisdom of one of the league's premier pass rushers.
Speaking to the media for just the second time since being drafted, Height couldn't hide his excitement about learning from five-time Pro Bowler Nick Bosa. "I can't wait to talk to him and see how he goes about his day," Height shared. "See how he carries himself. I can't wait to be around him."
Height brings a diverse collegiate background to Santa Clara, having suited up for Auburn, USC, Georgia Tech, and Texas Tech over his career. In 50 college games, the edge rusher amassed 111 tackles—27 of which went for a loss—along with 16.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. That kind of production shows he has the instincts to make plays, but refining his technique under Bosa's mentorship could take his game to the next level.
Bosa, selected second overall by San Francisco in 2019 out of Ohio State, has been a dominant force in the NFL since day one. His relentless motor and polished pass-rush moves make him the ideal role model for any young defender looking to make an impact. For Height, having that kind of resource in the same locker room is a golden opportunity.
There's an added layer of urgency here: both Bosa and 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams are currently rehabbing torn ACLs they suffered last season. That means Height, despite being a third-round pick, could be called upon to take on a more substantial role than originally anticipated. But with Bosa still around to share his knowledge and work ethic, Height may find himself better prepared to handle the pressure of an expanded rookie season.
