The atmosphere was electric from start to finish. Tears mixed with laughter as vuvuzelas blared, samba rhythms filled the air, and the crowd erupted in full voice for the city anthem "We'll Live and Die in These Towns." The love for "Super Frank" Lampard was palpable, and even a surprise appearance from pop icon Kylie Minogue added to the magic. Pubs and clubs across the city stayed packed well into the night, with fans refusing to let the moment end.
"It was one of the best days," said Ravinder Singh, manager of The Hollybush in Holbrooks, who finally got to bed around 3:00 AM after hundreds of fans packed his bar. "We don't know when we're going to have this again. Let's hope we win the Premier League, and then we get to do it all over again."
The joy spread far beyond the city center. At Abbey Park Care Home in Whitley, 93-year-old lifelong fan Doreen was treated to her own parade around the home, singing Coventry City songs with her daughter by her side. "Her daughter even sprayed her hair blue," said home manager Tina Thompson. Videos of Doreen's celebrations have since been viewed tens of thousands of times worldwide.
Carla Davies, shift supervisor at The Wallace on Keresley Road, described the scene as "incredible" and "unbelievable." From her rooftop vantage point, she had the best view of the parade. "You could not move," she said. "It was a once in a lifetime."
