'Note says it all': LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka hails Akash Singh after three-wicket spell against CSK

Akash Singh made an instant impact in his first match of the IPL 2026 season with a strong spell in the powerplay against Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow on Friday. The left-arm pacer removed openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson early to put CSK under pressure. Akash bowled with pace and discipline, consistently hitting a hard length that made scoring difficult for the CSK top order.

In a spectacular return to IPL 2026 action, young pacer Akash Singh set the stage alight with a fiery three-wicket spell that had the Lucknow Super Giants camp buzzing—and owner Sanjiv Goenka couldn't hide his pride.

Playing his first match of the season against Chennai Super Kings in Lucknow on Friday, the left-arm quick made an immediate impact during the powerplay. Akash struck early to remove openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson, putting CSK on the back foot right from the start. He later added the scalp of Urvil Patel to complete a memorable three-wicket haul.

What made the performance even more special was Akash's celebration. After each wicket, he pulled out a note that read, "#Akki on fire – Akash knows how to take wickets in T20 game." The gesture quickly went viral on social media, capturing the imagination of fans across the cricketing world.

For LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka, the message was clear. Taking to X, he wrote, "Akash, three crucial wickets tonight. Well done. The note says it all, you showed exactly how to take those wickets in a T20 game. Keep at it, Akki. Proud of you."

Akash's spell was a masterclass in disciplined fast bowling. He bowled four consecutive overs, consistently hitting a hard length that made run-scoring a challenge for CSK's top order. His pace and accuracy were particularly evident in Samson's dismissal—the batter attempted to pull a rising delivery but couldn't time it, with Mukul Choudhary taking a sharp catch near the square-leg boundary.

Despite the early setback, Chennai found stability through Kartik Sharma, who scored a brilliant 71. Sharma and Dewald Brevis added 70 runs for the fourth wicket after CSK had slipped to 52 for three in 7.2 overs. Their recovery helped CSK post a competitive total of 187 for five.

For young cricket fans and aspiring fast bowlers, Akash Singh's performance is a reminder that in T20 cricket, pace, discipline, and a clear game plan can still trouble the best batting line-ups. And sometimes, a little note says it all.
