India captain Harmanpreet Kaur admitted Amanjot Kaur’s injury has left a major gap in the squad ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup but backed Bharti Fulmali and Radha Yadav to step up. Amanjot is out for four to five months with a back injury. Harmanpreet also defended India’s bowlers after the South Africa series loss and said the upcoming camp and England series would help the team regain rhythm before the World Cup.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur has opened up about the significant challenge posed by Amanjot Kaur's injury ahead of the Women's T20 World Cup, acknowledging that the seam-bowling all-rounder's absence leaves a major gap in the squad. Amanjot has been sidelined for four to five months due to a back injury, which also caused her to miss the recent T20I series in South Africa.

"Amanjot was our key player. Unfortunately, she is not available. She is away from cricket for the next four to five months now," Harmanpreet said. "In place of her, it was very difficult to find someone like her who can fulfil that place."

To fill the void, India have turned to Bharti Fulmali and Radha Yadav. Bharti retained her spot in the squad after limited opportunities in South Africa, while experienced spinner Radha returns to the T20I setup on the back of strong domestic performances. Radha's comeback also comes after injuries to Amanjot and Kashvee Gautam, who is set to undergo knee surgery.

"But still, we are trying – Bharti, whatever opportunity she got, she tried to prove herself. We have got Radha back in the side because she is also an all-rounder who can contribute with bat, ball, and field," Harmanpreet added. "So, Amanjot's replacement was very hard to find. But now, like whatever players were available, we are trying to balance the team with them so that whenever we need somebody, they are ready for us."

The skipper also defended India's bowling attack after the series loss to South Africa, urging patience and perspective. "This was the only series where our bowling didn't click much... in one series, I can't judge my players," she explained. Harmanpreet expressed confidence that the upcoming training camp and the England series would help the team regain rhythm and momentum before the World Cup.

For fans and players alike, this transition period is a test of depth and resilience. As the team adapts, all eyes will be on Bharti and Radha to step up when it matters most.
