The Tennessee Volunteers are making moves early for the 2027 football recruiting class, and they've just landed on the radar of a promising young offensive lineman from the Buckeye State.
Dominic Black, a four-star offensive tackle out of Tri-Village High School in New Madison, Ohio, has officially named Tennessee among his top eight schools. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound prospect—ranked the No. 18 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 5 player in Ohio by 247Sports—is drawing attention from a crowded field that also includes Indiana, North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Kentucky, Michigan State, and North Carolina State, per Greg Smith of On3.
The Volunteers made a strong impression early, offering Black a scholarship during a spring practice visit on April 7. Tennessee offensive line coach Glen Elarbee followed up with an in-school visit on April 27, signaling the program's serious interest in adding size and talent to its future trenches.
Black's recruitment has been heating up quickly. Syracuse was the first Power Four school to offer him back on August 25, 2025, but since then, a laundry list of programs have joined the chase, including Maryland, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisville, UCLA, Missouri, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Duke, and Illinois.
Tennessee's 2027 class is already taking shape with seven commitments: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison. Adding a player of Black's caliber would be a major win for head coach Josh Heupel and his staff as they continue to build for the future.
