The recruiting trail is heating up, and Tennessee football is making serious moves for the 2027 class. The Vols just landed in the top seven for a highly-touted four-star wide receiver from Alabama—Deshawn Hall.

Standing at an impressive 6-foot-5 and 185 pounds, Hall is a big-bodied playmaker out of Prattville High School in Prattville, Alabama. According to 247Sports, he's ranked as the No. 23 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 10 overall prospect in the state of Alabama. That's elite company, and it's no surprise that some of the biggest programs in college football are battling for his commitment.

Hall announced his top seven schools via Hayes Fawcett of On3, and the list is stacked: Tennessee, Penn State, Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, Auburn, and Clemson. The Vols offered him a scholarship back on January 27, and he made his way to Knoxville for a spring practice visit on March 26. He's also scheduled an official visit to Tennessee for June 19, which could be a pivotal moment in his recruitment.

Hall's recruitment has been heating up for a while. Ohio was the first school to offer him back on October 13, 2025, and since then, over 20 programs have joined the race, including Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and many more. With that kind of national attention, getting into his top seven is a big win for the Vols.

Tennessee's 2027 class is already taking shape with seven commitments: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, defensive lineman Kadin Fife, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, and defensive back Carter Jamison. Adding a talent like Hall would be a massive boost to an already promising group.

For Vols fans, this is one to watch closely—especially with that official visit coming up in June. If Tennessee can make a strong impression, they might just land one of the top receivers in the country.
