After a successful career in burnt orange, that included 53 appearances, Texas Longhorns long snapper Lance St. Louis is hoping to continue his football career in the National Football League. While long snappers are rarely drafted, St. Louis may have a chance to earn a spot at the next level during preseason camp.
The Arizona product has been a staple of Texas special teams over the last four seasons after being one of the highest-rated long snappers in high school. According to Kohl’s Kicking, ESPN, and 247Sports, St. Louis was the top long snapper coming out of the high school. The lofty rankings were well deserved — as a freshman, St. Louis deep snapped in 10 games before appearing in 43 straight games over the next three seasons, consistently delivering accurate snaps on field goals, point-after attempts, and punts. St. Louis was credited with two career tackles.
The two knocks on St. Louis is that he doesn’t have prototypical size at 6’0, 224 pounds and also missed six tackles with the Longhorns, but if his overall track record at Texas is any indication, he has the tools and experience to earn an opportunity at the next level.
