With the Chicago Bears picking at 25 overall in the first round, the odds on them landing an impact player were low. Sure, the prospect at 25 was bound to be a rookie contributor, and there was always a chance he could have won a starting role in 2026, but Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman was the consensus number two safety on the board, and some NFL teams had him as their number one safety prospect.
The talent still lines up with Chicago’s needs — best players available list here — so general manager Ryan Poles will have plenty of options. One of which, if things break just right, would be a trade back from one of their second-rounders to pick up an extra pick tonight.

Enjoy night two of the NFL Draft, everyone! This will be your Open Thread to discuss any Bears or NFL things you want, and as always, this thread is rated WCG-MA.
If the Bears stick and pick at 57, there will be some additional fanfare surrounding the selection.
Pick 57 is currently held by the Chicago #Bears. A ketchup themed promo with a possible Chicago connection seems like an odd choice. https://t.co/ErRdxl4lFM pic.twitter.com/xAmc4tKbm6
