The 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Regionals field is set, and the race for college golf's ultimate prize is officially underway. The selection committee has announced the 81 teams and 45 individuals who will compete across six regional sites from May 18-20, setting the stage for a thrilling championship run.
At the top of the seeding list, Auburn, Oklahoma State, Texas, Florida, Virginia, and Arkansas have earned the coveted No. 1 seeds. Auburn, currently ranked No. 1, has been dominant this season with five team titles, led by junior Jackson Koivon's historic campaign—six individual wins in his last eight starts. The Tigers, who won the national title two years ago and made match play in 2025, are hungry to reclaim the crown.
But standing in their way is the defending champion Oklahoma State. The Cowboys, who defeated Virginia in last year's finals to claim the school's 12th men's national golf championship, have brought back all five starters from that title-winning squad. Preston Stout, a three-time Big 12 medalist, Ethan Fang, the British Am champion, along with Gaven Lane, Eric Lee, and Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson are all back for another run. The last school to repeat as men's champions was Alabama in 2013 and 2014—a feat Oklahoma State is determined to match.
This year's field is loaded with conference powerhouses. The SEC leads all conferences with 15 teams earning postseason berths, followed by the ACC and Big 12 with 12 each, and the Big Ten with six. The top five teams from each regional, plus the low individual not on an advancing team, will punch their tickets to the NCAA Championship at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California, from May 29 to June 3.
This marks the 17th year that the men's national championship will use match play to determine the team champion. The tournament opens with 72 holes of stroke play to crown the individual medalist, who will also earn an exemption. With a new individual champion guaranteed—last year's winner, Ole Miss's Michael LaSasso, turned pro earlier this season—the race for the title is wide open.
Whether you're rooting for a powerhouse like Auburn or Oklahoma State, or a dark horse from a stacked conference, this year's regionals promise high drama and unforgettable golf. The journey to Carlsbad starts now.
