From OKC's Jalen Williams to Boston's Neemias Queta, here's a look at who could tilt games in the playoffs, for better or worse.

The 2026 NBA Playoffs are set to tip off, and while superstars grab the headlines, it's often the X-factors who decide a series. These are the players whose performance can swing a game—and a championship chase—in an instant. From established names facing pivotal moments to young talents ready for the spotlight, here’s a look at one key swing player for every contender.

In the West, the battles will be fierce: OKC, SAS, DEN, LAL, HOU, MIN, POR, and the PHX/GSW play-in winner. The East features DET, BOS, NYK, CLE, TOR, ATL, PHI, and the ORL/CHA victor. Each team's fate may rest on the shoulders of one unpredictable performer.

For the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder, all eyes are on Jalen Williams. Last season, his evolution into a reliable three-point threat (37% on nearly five attempts per game) was a cornerstone of their title run, forcing defenses to respect him on the perimeter. This year, however, tells a different story. His three-point percentage has plummeted to 29.9%, and he's retreated inside the arc, with even his once-deadly midrange game cooling off.

The likely culprit? A challenging season marred by a wrist procedure and two hamstring strains that robbed him of his rhythm and likely impacted his shooting base and lift. As the playoffs begin, the Thunder desperately need the vintage JDub to reappear. If his shot doesn't return, the pressure will shift to backcourt mates like Ajay Mitchell, Jared McCain, or Isaiah Joe to fill the void.

Over in San Antonio, the Spurs are brimming with potential X-factors. The roster is a collection of wild cards: Luke Kornet could unlock new dimensions in two-big lineups with Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle possesses explosive scoring talent, and Carter Bryant offers versatile bench production. Yet, the most intriguing swing piece might be Dylan Harper. The newly-turned 20-year-old, standing at 6-foot-5, clearly has the tools of a future superstar. His ability to harness that talent under playoff pressure could be the spark that ignites a deep Spurs run.
