In a dramatic 2. Bundesliga clash, ten-man Hertha BSC delivered a thrilling 2-1 victory over Greuther Fürth in their final home game of the season, dealing a significant blow to the visitors' survival hopes. The result means Fürth will enter the last matchday sitting in an automatic relegation spot, with their fate hanging in the balance.

The drama unfolded early when Hertha's Josip Brekalo was shown a red card after just 30 minutes for a last-man foul on Branimir Hrgota, who was playing his final game for the club. Despite being a man down, the Berlin side showed remarkable resilience and character after the break.

The breakthrough came from an unlikely source: 16-year-old midfield sensation Kennet Eichhorn, who marked his return from suspension with his first-ever 2. Bundesliga goal. The highly-rated teenager, already linked with a move to Bayern Munich as a potential replacement for Leon Goretzka, showed composure beyond his years to put Hertha ahead.

If Eichhorn's strike was impressive, Michael Cuisance's contribution was simply spectacular. The former Bayern Munich man unleashed a thunderous shot from outside the box with just five minutes remaining, scoring his third goal of the season and seemingly sealing the points for the hosts.

However, Fürth refused to go down without a fight. With two minutes of regular time remaining, Sayfallah Ltaief delivered an excellent cross that was met by the head of Noel Futkeu. The future Eintracht Frankfurt striker's goal not only reduced the deficit but also moved him to the top of the scoring charts with 18 goals this season—remarkably, he has now scored each of Fürth's last seven goals.

The defeat leaves Fürth with a mountain to climb on the final matchday. While they trail 16th-placed Arminia Bielefeld by just one point, they face a difficult trip to Fortuna Düsseldorf knowing that anything less than a win could seal their fate. The three-point gap to safety means they'll need results elsewhere to go their way, but with the relegation playoff spot still within reach, Heiko Vogel's men haven't given up hope just yet.

For Hertha, the victory—their first in five games—lifts them to sixth place in the table. Coach Stefan Leitl will now turn his attention to next Sunday's clash with Bielefeld, where he could potentially do his former club Fürth a favor by denting their relegation rivals' survival bid.
