The 2026 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and the Chicago Bears should be looking to add at the offensive tackle position, a spot on the roster where they last year's second-round pick Ozzy Trapilo is expected to miss most of the 2026 season.
Veterans Braxton Jones, Theo Benedet and newcomer Jedrick Wills Jr. are all expected to compete for the starting job at left tackle, but the Bears could benefit from bringing in even more competition. Both Jones and Benedet had starting opportunities last year, but lost it to Trapilo who held down the job after he got his first chance in Week 12, going all the way through the playoffs. Trapilo got hurt in the wild-card playoff win against the Green Bay Packers when he suffered a ruptured patellar tendon that is likely to sideline him for most of the year.
While the Bears have other pressing needs on their roster, especially on the defensive side, there is no denying that the team needs to address the offensive tackle spot to build more depth at the position. With four picks in the Top 89 selections of the draft, Chicago has an opportunity to bring in the highest talent with a best player available strategy.

Mandatory Credit: Raj Mehta-USA TODAY SportsWe're examining an offensive tackle that Chicago can target in each round of the NFL draft. With offensive line coach Dan Roushar making it clear that there is still plenty of work to be done on the offensive line, there is going to be no shortage of options for the Bears heading into this week's draft. Here's one for every round:
Blake Miller is a versatile offensive tackle who projects to play right tackle but can slide to the opposite side of the line if Chicago feels that he is a fit. His durability in college was a big plus, playing in 54 games with over 3,700 snaps, which could really help build consistency at the left tackle spot for the Bears. He could start at right tackle right away, but with a veteran coach like Dan Roushar, the coaches could put him in a position to earn the job at left tackle as a rookie.
Caleb Lomu started at left tackle for two seasons, and excelled in pass protection but needs to put in the work to improve his run blocking. This past season, Lomu didn't allow a single sack, while giving up just eight pressures on 383 snaps. He's got high football IQ which will help fast track his growth at the next level.
Caleb Tiernan's size, which sees him at 6'7" and long arms, makes him a prototypical tackle. Tiernan is a player who has plenty of experience at left tackle and his physical build is hard to come by. Praised for his pass protection, Tiernan, like Lomu, will have to improve in the run game where he doesn't have the top-tier power needed.
Another big physical build at the position, Dametrious Crownover switched to offensive line upon arrival at Texas A&M but has great length for the position. He may not be the ideal fit for the Bears roster, but he would provide depth in case of emergency at the right tackle spot, where Darnell Wright is one of the anchors of the offensive line.
Austin Barber could see a position change at the NFL level but has the experience at left tackle where he had over 2,700 career snaps in over 30 starts for the Florida Gators. He's a decent athlete with plenty of power and strong hands, but could use work in his pass protection. He'd have an uphill battle to crack the starting lineup but can earn spot starts when needed.
Nolan Rucci would be different than most of the names on here, but again fitting that big physical build that has been projected to Chicago throughout this list. A right tackle out of Penn State, Rucci's best trait is in his run blocking, where he can get to the second level with quite a burst and explosiveness.
Keagan Trost is likely more fit for a guard spot at the next level, but he does have tackle experience which could get him an opportunity to make the roster. An Illinois native in high school, he's got shorter arms and less than ideal athleticism, but he's got explosiveness to garner attention. He's been praised for his pass protection and ability to avoid penalties, but is more of a developmental project than anything else.
